Spin Study

Spin Study explores identity by reimagining the Hanukkah game of spinning the dreidel. In 2018, I created my own game and photographed hundreds of dreidels and spinning tops during the eight nights of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. Later, I edited some of the images and presented them in grids. The work draws inspiration from the Bauhaus, Surrealism, and Conceptual photography. The project is intended to give traditional forms of cultural expression new meaning and to raise questions about the place of traditions in contemporary life. Selected images from this project were featured at Pulse Art Fair, Miami, Treat Gallery, 2019.
